The Clairefontaine A4 Sketch Pad is a practical daily studio workhorse for students, illustrators, and design professionals who need a reliable, portable sketching surface across a wide range of dry media. Fifty sheets of 90 g/m² light-grained white paper deliver enough tooth to grip graphite and carbon pigments cleanly without resistance — fast, intuitive mark-making with consistent line clarity from first stroke to last. The top wire-O spiral binding folds the front cover completely under the pad, creating a rigid self-supporting surface suited for lap sketching in galleries, lecture halls, and outdoor locations.

Micro-perforated sheets separate cleanly along the top edge without tearing or leaving paper fringe. Acid-free and pH-neutral throughout.

Common Questions
  • Is the 90 g/m² weight suitable for light marker work? The 90 g/m² stock handles dry media and light fineliners well. Heavy alcohol-based markers may show slight bleed-through to the sheet below — for marker-heavy workflows, a heavier stock like the 160 g/m² Cray-ON or 250 g/m² Paint-ON range is recommended.
  • Does the spiral binding allow left-handed use without obstruction? Yes. The top-bound wire-O spiral sits along the top edge of the pad rather than the side, making it equally comfortable for both left and right-handed users with no spiral obstruction during drawing.
